"Genius Emerges From the Collective"

Updated: Sep 27

Genius Emerges From the Collective

Two Sundays ago, we gathered around our televisions to watch the Oscars.

You know, the night once a year when the Movie industry gathers together to shine a light on their best and brightest of the year.

I usually watch for the magnificent gowns; to me, they are works of art. Some people watch to see their favorite stars, and this year folks watched to see if anyone was going to slap someone…OY!

This year’s runaway hit was a movie called Everything Everywhere All At Once.

In this movie, a middle-aged Chinese immigrant is swept up into an insane adventure in which she alone can save existence by exploring other universes and connecting with the lives she could have led.

According to the New York Times, EEAAO took home a total of seven Oscars for their 11 nominations — more “above the line Oscars than any film in the 95-year history of the awards," including wins for the incredible Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Michelle Yeoh.

The awards acknowledge the magnificent performances and celebrate the Asian community and women of a certain age. (Go Michelle and Jamie)

Did you hear all the acceptance speeches?

Included in Thank You’s was a common theme of

working as a collective...Something Team Kat & Mouse values HIGHLY

Director Daniels Kwan's Oscar acceptance speech highlights the power of interdependence—I love it SO much I have included the below highlights…

With that said, it is critical to think about these passages and how they can create real and lasting change in how you view your Fund Development Department.

“I know every director agrees with me when I say a director is nothing without their incredible cast and crew—this is my family, my friends!”

If our movie has greatness and genius, it is only because they have greatness and genius flowing through their hearts and souls, and minds, and they gave that precious gift to our film.

The world is opening up to the fact that genius does not stem from individuals like us on stage, but rather, genius emerges from the collective.

We are all products of our context. We are all descendants of something and someone.

Would you like to transfer your Fundraisers into a successful team?

We built our Team Kat & Mouse with the hope our bringing our training, Tactics, and Tools to you so you can create success (and win the Fundraising Oscar).
